Real Heroes: People Who Actually Saved Lives

Not every hero wears a suit. The people in this series saved lives with a steady hand, a stubborn idea or decades of patient work. Each entry links to the full story.

We only cover civilians: pilots, doctors, nurses, scientists, rescuers and everyday people. Every fact is checked against reliable sources, and if we are not sure of a number we say about.
